Little Explorers // Adventure on our Doorstep

I forget, sometimes, how closely we live to some beautiful parts of England. It's easy to get lost in the hustle-bustle of suburban life, the chimney lined horizon from our bedroom window, the constant background noise of traffic... Easy to forget that just a short drive away are wide, open spaces, fresh air, and the beautiful surroundings of the natural world.

Half term always affords us the opportunity of adventures. And dear friends visiting from Austria allows us the chance to show off our little patch in all its stunning glory...

And no-one loves adventuring more than our littlest explorers... Gathering the treasures of the earth... Coming home, little boxes laden with feathers, stones, sticks and all sorts of little discoveries!

So many varied landscapes to get lost in!

There is something so invigorating about the sensory feast of the woods... The smell of damp earth, the sound of crunching leaves, the sight of deer grazing across the way, the taste of crisp air on your lips and the feel of the wind on your face.

The signs of humanity sadly making their mark (graffiti stained benches - so sad), but for the most part, it all seems wonderfully removed from the every day.

It's a belated New Years resolution, but I want to get out more this year, breath deep, step away. It does me, and us, and them so. much. good.

Imaginations run rife...

Precious memories are shared...

God's creation marvelled at...

Moments captured...

And togetherness savoured...

PS... A very happy 6th birthday to Marshall... No, Marsh... You didn't make the siblings cut, but we're glad to have you in the family nonetheless!!
